Two hundred people were sworn in as newly naturalized citizens on October 5, 2002 on the grounds of the historic Wycoff House Museum in Canarsie, Brooklyn. The Wycoff House is celebrating it's 350th anniversary and the site was chosen for the ceremony for it' s symbolic nature and to show dramatic evidence to the new citizens of all the generations of previous immigrants that passed before them. The newly minted citizens came from a potpourri of countries including India, Bangladesh and the former Soviet Union. (© Richard B. Levine)
