Hundreds of students from Brooklyn Technical High School take part in the Cardboard Boat Regatta in the school's pool in Brooklyn in New York on Friday, March 1, 2013. As part of Engineering Week the teams of students constructed boats made only of cardboard and duct tape. The team's assigned "captain" piloted their boat from one end of the pool to the other and back in a heat with other boats, hopefully without sinking. The surviving boats were timed and the winners received bragging rights with an award also going to the most spectacular sinking. (© Richard B. Levine)
