Contractors for the Dept. of Parks and Recreation move tons of fallen trees, branches and tree limbs into an industrial wood chipper, to be made into mulch, in Central Park in New York on Monday, November 12, 2012. Over 800 trees were destroyed or damaged in the park by the recent Hurricane Sandy and the Nor'Easter which arrived about a week later. The cost of the tree cleanup has reached $12 million citywide with a record number of calls to the 311 line at over 14,000 trees, over the two storms. (© Richard B. Levine)
